Ray family update

Things are going well here. We still have some adjusting to do, getting used to the new baby, but Mommy is having a much easier time taking care of Danielle during the day and Daddy has worked really hard to get her back on a sleep-at-night schedule.

Grandma Ray has come to visit, although the weather isn't cooperating today to go explore Charleston. Ryan and I got a chance to go on a date last night, and he took me cosmic bowling. It was so nice to get out of the house and relax and have fun. It was actually the first time we had ever gone bowling together!

Visit from Grandma and Grandpa Dulaney

Grandma and Grandpa Dulaney came to visit Danielle this weekend, and she is having so much fun with them! Grandma has been playing with her and talking to her almost nonstop, and Grandpa is just plain cool :) Mommy and Daddy like having the grandparents visit too... they've had less diapers to change and got a chance to have their first "date" since Danielle was born--dinner at a little cafe nearby. Here are some pics from this weekend:

2 quick updates

I just wanted to mention that Danielle is back to her birth weight already! We saw the pediatrician yesterday and she was very pleased. Unfortunately, she has some eye gunk that's probably backed up from a little nasal congestion, so we have some erythromycin to use on her eyes for a few days. We can see the difference already.

Also, our little monkey lost her umbilical cord Monday morning around 2:20 am! It just fell right off after a feeding/changing. She's got the cutest little belly button now!

One Week Old!

Wow, I can't believe the past week has gone by so fast! Our little monkey feet is already one week old! She is still as amazing and beautiful as she was just seven days ago.

We've had lots of firsts this week: her first car ride, her first night at home, her first (sponge) bath, her first bottle, her first time in her bouncy and her swing and her pack 'n' play, her first christening (she peed on Daddy's shirt, there's a picture below). Mommy and Daddy have been enjoying them all! We're getting to know her squeaks and grunts and other noises, and Mommy finally feels comfortable enough to sleep when baby is sleeping. We've been lucky enough for the past two nights to be able to all go to bed together (Danielle sleeps in her pack 'n' play) and get a few hours of sleep. Mommy and Daddy are taking turns with nighttime feedings (Daddy has some bottles of breastmilk available in the fridge) and that has been awesome!

Danielle has had a few pediatrician visits to monitor her bilirubin levels (for jaundice) and she has eye boogies, probably from a clogged tear duct. So far normal baby stuff. She is really sweet and rarely fussy, but she does have a stinky butt! We are going to get pictures taken professionally on Wednesday, and announcements should be out shortly after that.

Daddy photos

Here are some photos of Danielle with her Daddy. He changed her first diaper, gave her her first bath, and came up with her first nickname. I'm so lucky to have them both in my life!
